In Business and Happy - what’s the secret?

So often you will see business men and women flow through a airport without really knowing what is going on around them. More concerned with the 2 emails they are catching up on their blackberry’s and iphones to notice the face of the person standing next to them. In a world that is using constantly improving technology to communicate with one another, we seem to be missing the point.

The secret to being in business and being happy is pretty simple and its this - Be passionate about what your doing. If you don’t sincerely love what your doing you simply shouldn’t be doing it. Go onto something else and find your passion.  Right now if your saying to yourself  “But my situation won’t let me do this or that..” then you need to stop making excuses. Those excuses are holding you back from achieving your goals and dreams for your life.

Some businessmen are just in business to make money and I highly disregard the attitude of those types of people. They will sell anything they can to make a profit and they don’t care who they hurt in the process. If you sell something you don’t believe in then your are 100% ripping someone off. As a consumer I don’t want anyone to try and rip me off, and as a businessman, I want to provide the best possible product or service to whom I give it to.

The business men and women I know that make a ton of money but don’t love what they are doing are not successful in my eyes. The restaurant owner in a small community that puts his heart and soul into what he loves has much more than success. Loving what you do rolls over to family life, friends, and even enables you to get involved in your community much easier.

Most of the great people that work to make communities blossom are the ones who have learned how to put their heart and soul into what they are doing for a career. Those same people volunteer for events, help children in youth programs, and help pave the way for young professionals such as myself. I LOVE these people.

I beg you to make a crucial decision in your life because you will be doing a favour to your spouse/kids/friends and even that neighbour that is incredibly annoying. If for any reason you cannot change careers than do your best to do what your passionate about in evenings and weekends. Get involved and you will really see what the true meaning of success really is.
