Top 5 ways to create Value for your website

All business owners and entrepreneurs today know how important it is to have a website for a business, no matter what it is. Next thing you need to think about before expecting people to be able to use your site, is ask yourself what value does my site bring to my potential customers? What is going to keep people coming back to my site? I could go on and on with the questions but I’ll get right to the top 5 ways you can create value for your customers.
- Feedback is one of the most important aspects of your site. You can learn so much from online consumers because people are not affraid to literally rip your product apart when they are not face to face with you. Let’s be honest - we want to know if what we are selling sucks and what we can improve on. So with that said - having a comment, review, feedback section is ideal and beneficial to any business.
- Try using an analytics tool that tells you where your visitors are coming from, how long they are staying on your site, if they are coming to your site via search engines, from linked pages, or directly from being typed in the URL. Some of these analyitcs tools are extremely powerful. Google Analytics is a FREE tool that is used by thousands of businesses, especially smaller ones that cannot afford to have an analyitcs tool hosted on their own servers. Don’t let the word FREE trick you though, Google Analytics is one mean machine that will help your business grow.
- Give the customer something for coming to your site. We want our customers to have a positive experience whether their in our shops, hearing about us in the news, or visiting our website. Have a contest, give printable discounts only available if you sign up for a newsletter, or create discount codes that give the consumer the feeling they are getting a great deal. Make sure you give your visitors something that either makes them come back to the site or gets them to tell their friends about something just got from you that not everyone else has.
- Professional Design. I absolutely cannot stand sites that do not look like they had someone professionally design it. I personally don’t even bother looking at what people have to say if it is not appealing to the eye. Why should I care about what you have to say if it looks like you don’t even care about your business or your brand. This is going to become more and more important as months, weeks, and even days fly by. Businesses that do not get a designer to set them up with a site that works well with their brand are just not serious about making money. Wink Wink, I professionally design sites for small-medium sized businesses and I’ve seen the benefits. Small to medium sized businesses shouldn’t waste their money getting a website up and running if it doesn’t have all the ingredients to be successful.
- Give people what they want. Often businesses will have a site about THEIR products, THEIR services, THEIR this, THEIR that. It’s ludicrous to think creating a site with the same information that’s in your stores is going to save your company. If your a local company that just sells to a small area, have a feed of late bus reports/cancellations/local videos etc. If your a larger company tell people information that they could only find if they had to wait 3 hours on hold for. Customers love to come to websites to find something that makes their life easier, and they love fresh content.
If you can find a way to create a great Brand experience via giving people a reason to continously visit your site, you will succeed. It’s one of the greatest sources of marketing right now, and its costs are minimal. You can get a site created and designed for easily less than $8,000 these days. The benefits of having a site AND creating value to your site are business life changing.
